This piece of art was painted over a mediocre image using oil to give a smooth textured finish during the World War II. This painting immensely fascinates me. This painting was drawn during the World War II, and as the era of warfare is an exemplary of destruction and devastation, there are some traces of frenzy in this painting. The bewilderment and anxiety on the faces of the two dancers is something that resonates with me. I can see how they are too anxious, and nervous, as implied by the bold colors and the expressions on their faces. In fact, their dance pose is also rather rickety. This painting truly expresses the state of the nations involved in the World War II. It not only gives shape to terror, but also to turmoil. The outline of the painting is quite raw, and the paints used to add color to the painting are too dark and bold. The dancers appear to be in utter dread, as implied by their facial expressions. Personally, this artwork somewhat relate to my taste and style. I like it when it is bold and colorful. Oil on canvas may not be much of a forte, but this piece of art is extremely beautiful and tells a story; that of the World War II. Paintings look good when they tell a story or mean something. This is the true art, and completely matches my taste. Hence, the way Heckel has used the combination of brown, red, a bit of blue and black to paint this artwork, he successfully managed to tell a whole new story using a limited mix of colors.
