Purpose/Rationale
Overview: Through reflection on the contemporary theories of management covered in modules 1 and 2 of MGT5MPT, this assessment will help you think critically and apply management theories and concepts [to an organisation and workplace environment you are familiar with.
SILOs: 1 and 3 are addressed in the Individual Reflection.
Video Length: No more than 5 minutes in total

| Task summary | You are to video a short reflection of no more than 5 minutes demonstrating your ability to analyse and apply the management theories and concepts discussed in modules 1 and 2 of MGT5MPT and demonstrate how these apply to your organisation or an organisation in the retail sector.
In this assessment, the reflective component compares with the empirical evidence outlined in academic journal articles. You are required to provide evidence of your reflections using at least six references. These are to be cited in the video |
| Task Details | In your reflection, you are required to answer four questions listed below.
1. What contemporary management theories and approaches are evident (or not) within the organisation? 2. What motivational theories (content, process or both) do you recognise within the organisation and what is your perspective on their effectiveness? 3. How would you describe the organisational culture and its correlation to management practices being applied? How would you evaluate the impact of employee engagement on organisational performance? |
| Task guidelines | Your reflection is to demonstrate critical thinking and how management approaches and practices are applied in a working environment.
Evaluate how your answers to each question may impact and relate to other questions The reflection should begin with a short one or two-sentence introduction and address the four questions. |

Assessment Weighting: This assessment weighting is 20%
Assessment Criteria: Assessment will be measured on how you:
– Analyse and apply management approaches and theories (8%)
– Research and reflect on your proposition (8%)
– Structure and organise your written reflection (2%)
– Presentation and reference(2%)
