Assignment Brief and Guidance:
Brief:

Decide on a theme or subject for a 2000-word essay that broadly covers one of the areas of art and design history we have covered (see visual above – and on Moodle). The structure of this essay could be a historical account, showing the influences that contributed to that movement of work, and how this work influenced others, it could be an in-depth case study of an individual creative or movement, or you could ask a question that you answer through the essay. In each case, you must show the historical, creative, cultural and creative influences that are relevant to this subject matter.

Record all of your initial thinking that shows the decisions you are making, and the in-depth research that you do. Make sure you use a variety of sources, internet (reliable sources only), books, journals, documentaries and primary sources as appropriate.

Produce a 2000 word illustrated essay, that shows clear contextual understanding, visual analysis and context, makes a valid argument, and has justified personal opinion. You must use the Harvard referencing system for quotes and the bibliography (see Moodle for details).
