Task:
Students will record their critical reading of the scholarly research for the first two topics of the unit.
Each topic will require students to write two journal entries of 800 words each. In sum students will write four journal entries (4 x 800 words = 3200 words)
Each journal entry will be a critical reflection on the scholarly literature and in response to the prompt as detailed here: Journal Entry One: Reading and responding critically to the Australian early childhood policy context: Locating myself as a leader in this policy context Journal Entry Two: Reading and responding critically to global policy trends in early childhood: Understand its impact for me as an early childhood leader in my own local Journal Entry Three: Reading and responding critically to global policy flows and what it means for me as an early childhood leader Journal Entry Four: Reading and responding critically to global policy flows and how I see myself enacting leadership that can speak back to dominant discourse in early childhood policy
Journal entries are to be a narrative style of reporting of the students critical reading. This means students are to include thoughtful considerations of their key understandings/learnings from the scholarly research in relation to their own leadership in early childhood education.
Journal entries should ‘build’ the students understanding of the topics (i.e.: making links between previous journal entry).
Combined the four journal entries will illustrate the student’s academic narrative of key learnings from their critical reading of the scholarly research for the first two topics of the unit.
