There are many countries globally that highly depend on income derived from tourism to run their economies. That is what Pakistan is now focusing on according to author, Ali Ahmed, in his article “The Expected Rebirth of Pakistan’s Tourism Industry”, published in the Business Recorder. 

Summary

In the article, the author has been able to communicate multiple points within a short a crisp manner. The article starts off by mentioning how the new Prime Minister of Pakistan is focused on reviving the very much suffered tourism industry of Pakistan. The article has focused on various points of promotion of the industry and the country overall through social media bloggers and the young generation of Pakistan. This information is backed up by a quote from a professor of one of the most prestigious universities in Pakistan. In this manner, the author has tried to focus on the importance of the youth initiatives in a country like Pakistan whose major population falls between the ages of 25-54. This consists of almost 37% of the population (Factbook, 2018). Pakistan is a country whose youth is there greatest asset. The author then jumps to talking about the most important potential tourist partner and ally that can be tapped into that is China. Chinese are known to spend on their yearly vacations. The author through the aid of the article, is encouraging the Chinese to spend their vacations in the neighboring country that is Pakistan. The author further tries to persuade Chinese by mentioning how pocket friendly and cheaper a vacation in Pakistan will be as an option. Towards the end of the article, which is the third and final section, the author has mentioned the government initiatives taken to work towards improving and promoting tourism within the country. This is done quoting the efforts of the leaders running the task force. The author has also mentioned how the government is taking the initiative. This is done by creating special task force that identify the promotion techniques, spots and are responsible for running campaigns. 

Critique

The article started off with an interesting and eye-catching title. It mentioned how the new prime minister was focusing on reviving the tourism industry in Pakistan.  The article seems to clearly have a purpose to talk about 3 points. These points include the issue with the overall image of the country, the best possible ally and the current initiatives taken by the government and the country. The article was short and crisp and was backed up by facts and quotes of some very credible sources.
